The budgeting engine

One loop from settled transaction to approved reallocation.

The engine is five modules wired in sequence. Transactions go in at one end, and what comes out is a budget you can act on mid-cycle instead of a report you read after it. Nothing in between requires you to maintain a spreadsheet.

The pipeline

Four handovers, no manual step between them.

INPUT

Connected accounts

Bank accounts and cards linked in read-only mode. Settled transactions arrive with merchant, amount, date and account of origin.

Read-only. No payment rails touched.

PROCESS

Categorization engine

Each transaction is assigned to one of your categories, with a confidence reading and a full record of what drove the assignment.

Overrides retrain the assignment for next time.

CONTROL

Tracking and reallocation

Category totals move against their limits immediately. Threshold and pace breaches raise flags carrying a named reallocation source.

Suggestions wait for approval, always.

OUTPUT

Spend reports

Variance to budget by category, trend across periods, and the audit trail of every reallocation that was approved or declined.

Exportable in full, any time.

The loop, restated

Categorize. Track. Flag. Reallocate.

Four verbs, in that order, running continuously. The sequence matters: tracking is only honest if categorization is current, and a reallocation suggestion is only useful if the flag arrived in time to act on it.

  • 01

    Categorize

Expenses are categorized automatically as they come in from connected accounts and cards. Nothing is entered by hand, and nothing sits in an uncategorized pile waiting for close.

  • 02

    Track

Every category spend is tracked live against its budget. Committed spend, remaining room and percentage of limit are all current to the last settled transaction.

  • 03

    Flag

Categories approaching or exceeding budget are flagged immediately, with the amount, the pace and the day of the cycle attached so the flag is actionable rather than merely alarming.

  • 04

    Reallocate

Under-spent categories are suggested as reallocation sources to cover the overage. You approve, adjust or decline. Nothing moves on the engine's own authority.

Modules

Open any module and see exactly what it does.

Each page covers the mechanics, the settings you control and the figures the module produces. No feature lists without the detail behind them.

Pick your month end

There are only two ways to find out you went over budget.

One of them still lets you do something about it.

The statement routeDay 31

You read the number after it is spent

The category closed at 112 percent. The money left the account three weeks ago. The only decision available now is which line to explain it against.

  • Overage discovered at close
  • Reallocation window already gone
  • Next cycle starts on the same blind footing
The BudgetGaga routeDay 11

You read the pace while it still bends

At 74 percent on day 11 the category is flagged as trending over, with an under-spent line named as the source. You approve the shift, or you tighten the spend. Either way you chose.

  • Flagged the moment the pace breaks
  • Reallocation source named, not hunted for
  • Every move still waits on your approval
